Hey Guys just to let everyone know that I will be home over a few weeks in April. Around the weekend of the 19-20th. I will be at the coast at my uncle place for about a week over that weekend and would love you guy and even your better halves to join me if you can. There is plenty of space and not too bad a view. So organise some time if needed. You have been warned.

Whose the joker?
Heath Ledger dead from OD.
Did not, see that one coming…..

Update: Guess its in post production….. Can anyone say posthumous? If his performance is as good as they say, then this could do for the movie what Brandon Lee did for ‘The Crow’….

Big Day Out
I didn’t get any videos of any acts but these guys were awesome to watch.
Closest thing I have ever seen to a light saber fight ( or a wizard’s dual, you decide)

Flugtag!
Quick note to remind anyone who presently has nothing to do on the weekend of April 6. A few mates and I at work submitted a few ideas for the first annual Red Bull Australian Flugtag and we have been selected to compete. Flugtag is basically a competition where groups build psuedo flying machines then launch off a platform into the water below, in this case it is Sydney Harbour.
Should be a massive weekend, it’s not every day that you get to do something like this so if you’re in the country let me know if you want to come along for the adventure.

Is your dream, your career?
I found this article really interesting:
I have had this debate within myself for many a year…
Should I pursue a career that:
- I ‘think’ I should?
- That others think I should?
- That will give me financial security?
- Or do I pursue a career that truly makes me happy in spite of the first 3 factors?
There is often a massive divide in many people between ‘what they do’ and ‘what they would like to do’.
I think this divide is caused by the manor in which we are educated and the focus/ emphasis that is given to wealth creation…
What is more important…material wealth creation or personal wealth creation?
I’m sure this debate is not foreign to any of you and I would be interested to hear:
- Who has a divide in their job and thier dream?
- Who thinks that their job and dream line up?
- Who has considered a career change?
I know that I have followed a career that I think will give me security and status so far. Even though I began in Arts (note: I agree with the notion of all uni grads satrting in a generalist degree and then specialising), I have now gradually moved towards business. I know find myself at a point where my career is looking very promising, but it couldn’t be further from what I want to do and what would make me happy! I am now willingly to forsake the security that it provides and step into more uncertain waters…
My worst nightmare…waking up in 20 years and wondering what the hell happened to all those years…
Life’s short…taking chances is essential…and never leave yourself wondering what might have been!

Is the NBL dead?
I just read this little snip from Derek Rucker:
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,8659,22984925-23769,00.html
Does anyone have any ideas on how the NBL can become a popular Australian sport again?
Crowd numbers are pretty abismal, the game has little cash, it’s hard to attract good imports and frankly, the game is just not that exciting to watch.
- Do we need to change the rules and go to a more American model that is more focussed on entertainment?
Purist would argue that this is not how the games is meant to be played, however aren’t sports essential about the spectators? Look at the reformation in Cricket and how that has improved its popularity… - Do we need to change the emphasis on playing style at a junior level?
I know the game is about defense as much as offense (i.e. UQ basketball), but that makes for a very boring game if you are on the sideline. The games needs better athletes who are dynamic scorers. I don’t want to watch a guy take charges all day, I want to see someone dunking over 2 dudes or draining some monster treys!
I am personally in favour of freeing up the game a bit and encouraging a more attacking style of play. Every other sport has implemented changes to this affect. Union has just implemeted 8 new rules aimed at improving the game: http://www.brumbies.com.au/act.rugby/page/52353
The key to a successful sport is punter numbers. From this comes follow-ons like sponsorship and most importantly growth in the game. Keen to hear the thougths os the other ballers out there…

‘Get busy living or get busy dying’
Probably one of my favourite quotes of all time.
Here is a little reminder for you all…2058 to beat!
